Please use the enclosed Mastergear order form when ordering to ensure that our sales department can process your order quickly and precisely.

Please clarify the following valve data before ordering:

Environmental specification
Motorized or manual operation
Max. torque at the valve stem
Valve stem diameter, stem form (square,. Double D, or round bore with key way)
Allowable input torque or rim force on the hand wheel
Mounting flange details (number and size of mounting holes, pitch circle diameter)
Required direction rotation to close valve, on gearbox input and output,
Auxiliary equipment required-

Valves often have to be designed for special environmental conditions, and we believe it is important to select actuator just as carefully. Due to our great experience we can offer our customers the right solution, even for critical applications. For a list of the environmental specifications, which we have developed so far, please see bellow.

Once the required output torque has been determinate, the gearbox may be selected from the data sheet.

The output torque for motorized operation should also be used in case of extreme environmental conditions or when a high safety factor is required.

The output torque for manual operation can be used for rare motorized applications or when lower safety factors are acceptable. In this case however, the stall torque of the actuator must not exceed double the input torque. Please contact our office, if you are in doubt.

Output flanges:
Gives the respective flanges size according to DIN /ISO 5211, e.g. F12. other requirements are written in full, e.g.
Blind holes flange holes are bored as blind holes
Recess = flange machined with recess, standard is plain.
Spigot = flange with spigot acc. To DIN/ISO
On = hole pattern turned by 45°degrees as against standard.

Machining of Quadrant:

Specifies the size of the valve shaft, e.g.:
SQ27 = with across flats 27mm (square bore)
DD36 x 40 = double D, AF 36 x valve shaft dia. 40mm.
60H8 = round shaft 60mm, class of hit H8.

Keyway/Square:

This specifies the position of the keyway respectively the square etc. in quadrant. It is always described in the “OPEN” position viewed on the top. Every Mastergear actuator drawing has the position A to C marked on it.

The following abbreviations may occur:

B, DIN6885/1 = keyway acc top DIN6885/*1 in position B
CORN ON CENT = square corners are positioned on actuator axis (corners on center)
//AC = surface of flats are parallel to axis of gearbox.

Rotation:
This defines the position of the gearbox input as well as the required input and output position to close the gearbox/valve.
The following abbreviations are commonly used:

R: Input shaft on the right.
L: Input= shaft on the left. (Number of gearbox types is limited. Necessary to consult with producer.)
X: clockwise rotation from OPEN to SHUT or on indicator cap.
Y: Anti-clockwise rotation from OPEN to CLOSE on indicator cap.
C: clockwise rotation on input shaft to close the valve
AC: Anti clockwise rotation on input shaft to close the valve.

Input shaft:

The following abbreviations are commonly used to specify the input shaft:
PL/PH = plain shaft with hole for tension pin to fix handwheel.
Form E = round shaft with key way to mount on an actuator drive, acc. To DIN 3210.

Painting:
The standard coat is red oxide primer, black synthetical primer or grey acryl paint. Special coating on request.
